Second Day!

Tuesday morning the group got a tour of the Las Cruces Botanical Garden and it was amazing to see the variety of plant and tree species the tropical forest holds.

My favorite part of this was being able to capture all the beautiful flowers that grow in this part of Costa Rica! I love flowers, especially since they attract the most unique butterflies. Being from the desert, we don't get to see these keystone species that basically spread and transport pollen that help maintain the balance in biodiversity.

I'm excited to see what the next few days bring :)

Our first official day in San Jose, Costa Rica started off great. We had breakfast at Hotel Aeropuerto where they served us eggs, toast, rice and beans and fresh fruits. It was amazing!

After indulging on some authentic foods, the group loaded onto the tour bus which lead us through downtown San Jose and we made our way up and through the mountain. As we got to the top of the mountain, Scott said we could explore the area before lunch and most of us had walked to the summit. I captured some great photos of nearby hills, clouds, and beautiful flowers.

We gathered together for lunch at South America's only highest elevation restaurant at 10,000 feet (I forgot the name of this place) but the owner had a very interesting story of how him and his wife became the owners. The food was amazing, I had tamales and posole.

Finally we reached San Vito, where the humidity surprised me. It was super hot but the landscape and surroundings are breath taking!

Overall the first day has been interesting, especially with the long bus ride.

But tomorrow is a NEW day
